You can also build a reasonable idea of how many links you need, and how authoritative, in order to compete. To check out your competitors’ links, you can search for their most popular URLs with the link: command in Google. If you want to go further, use one of the many backlink tools to search for the most influential links – a good starting point is Open Link Profiler which gives you a lot of data for free. If Google decides a site no longer adheres to its quality guidelines, they may apply a site-wide penalty pushing the results down for every page. The more infractions, and the greater the seriousness of the infractions, the bigger the penalty and the further the site will drop. Remember, the reason that website isn't bringing in customers is because you have given them no reason to come back. From a quality page point of view, duplicate content is a low-quality indicator. Boilerplate text is another low-quality indicator. From an SEO perspective, I never treat a piece of content as ‘complete’. There is always room for improvement with updates, additional information, and various other things that can make it more useful to visitors.

Don't over-optimize anchor text
Google only show sitelinks for results when they think they’ll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn’t allow Google's algorithms to find good sitelinks, or they don’t think that the sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user’s query, Google won’t show them. Technical SEO is work improving the non-content parts of your website. These tend to be the elements behind the scenes that visitors don’t see (but often affect their experience of the website!) Your analytic tools can be used to find the keywords people search for that lead them to your website. The majority of these will be the shorter keywords but you can also find long tail keywords as well. These long tail keywords will likely be relevant to your website in some way or at least an area of it but probably won’t actually be keywords you’ve actually targeted. Each webpage should have a single focus
keyword and be included 1-3 times naturally in the page
content. Make sure it’s also included in your page title, meta
description, and H1 text assuming it fits within the parameters.
If it doesn’t fit well, work towards a more general keyword. SEO, once a highly specialized task relegated to the back rooms of a website development team, is now a mainstream marketing activity.
Identify potential link partners
Analyzing content alone is not real SEO. Making a deliverable look pretty for a client is not SEO. The purchase cycle can sometimes involve a large number of clicks. If you do decide to use an image as a link, filling out its alt text helps Google understand more about
the page you're linking to. Imagine that you're writing anchor text for a text link. The searches that people make online are related to certain words or phrases. Because you want your webpage to be the answer or solution to their search query, your page needs to be built with this phrase or word in mind. The size of your images can have a big impact on your overall site speed (which is an important search ranking factor).
